The Black Keys’ Peaches! is the Akron duo’s fourteenth studio album, a lean 10-track release that leaned into immediacy, feel and instinct. Described by Dan Auerbach as their “most natural record” since The Big Come Up, it was recorded in a deliberately unfussy, DIY spirit, with all musicians playing together in the same room and minimal overdubs. The band also took full control behind the desk, marking the first time they mixed an album themselves since Magic Potion. That hands-on approach mirrored the source material, with song choices shaped by Auerbach and Patrick Carney’s long-running obsession with digging for records — an interest that had spilled out into their high-energy Record Hang DJ nights, spinning vintage 45s for packed dancefloors around the world. Rather than presenting the material as straight reinterpretations, Peaches! reframed those influences through the band’s own language, prioritising feel over fidelity. The artwork drew on an iconic image by Memphis photographer William Eggleston, with Michael Carney returning to oversee art direction, completing a release rooted in heritage but driven by the band’s own identity.
