Alev Lenz builds 4 in a Cycle of Thirds from a simple but rigorous idea: one drone for each note of the chromatic scale. From these foundations, she shapes a set of songs that draw on folk traditions, chamber arrangements and contemporary composition, with occasional darker tonal shifts. Written alongside early drone sketches by Jas Shaw, the album carries a sense of cohesion and restraint, with each piece rooted in tone and texture rather than conventional structure.
