Mndsgn - Body Wash
Originally released in 2016, Body Wash remains one of Mndsgn’s most cherished works. After the beat-driven drift of Yawn Zen, he assembled a collection of fully formed songs influenced by early SOLAR material and artists such as Leon Sylvers III, Kashif and Dave Grusin – music that channelled the slick, melodic pulse of early 80s boogie, funk, soul and jazz fusion. Across these tracks, Mndsgn shapes these reference points into something personal, describing Body Wash as “a soul record that plays with nostalgic elements in a dynamic and positive way” – a set intended as colour, texture, and emotional mapping rather than pure pastiche. Fans of Yawn Zen, Rare Pleasure and the Snax beat tapes will recognise the through-line, yet Body Wash stands apart for its songwriting clarity.
