Ed O'Brien, guitarist with Radiohead, returns with Blue Morpho, his second solo album and the first released under his own name. Written during lockdown and recorded at The Church Studio in London and Seven Sound in Wales, the album draws on the calm of the Welsh countryside, reflecting themes of healing, acceptance and introspection. Named after the iridescent butterfly, Blue Morpho blends hypnotic psych-folk, jazz textures and trip-hop rhythms around O’Brien’s radiant guitar work. Produced by Paul Epworth, with additional production from Riley MacIntyre and mixing by Ben Baptie, it also features contributions from Shabaka Hutchings, Dave Okumu, Philip Selway and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.
