Dexys Midnight Runners’ LOVE draws together stories from across Kevin Rowland’s life into a deeply personal set of songs about family, friendship, romance and growing older. Spanning ideas written decades apart and songs completed more recently, it moves through memories of an Irish immigrant childhood, reflections on parents and grandchildren, and the shifting realities of love across a lifetime. Rather than conventional love songs, LOVE explores the many forms affection and connection can take, finding meaning in intimate moments and lived experience. Familiar figures from Rowland’s autobiography reappear here, woven into songs rooted in memory and honesty. Recorded under the Dexys Midnight Runners name for the first time since Don’t Stand Me Down, the album pairs Rowland’s songwriting with long-time collaborators Sean Read, Mike Timothy and Jim Paterson, with production from David Holmes and string arrangements by Brian Irving. Together they frame a collection that feels reflective, direct and deeply human.
