Yello explore their own musical history on Time Lab, the fifteenth album from Dieter Meier and Boris Blank. Blank draws on fresh samples alongside riffs, motifs and found sounds accumulated across nearly fifty years, building strange electronic settings for Meier’s tales of robbers, nocturnal creatures and Dadaist wordplay. ‘Around the Sun’ resurrects a Meier vocal originally recorded for 1981’s Claro Que Si, setting it against driving percussion, while ‘Break Out’ reaches back to Yello’s early sound with prowling bass, fiery rhythms and Meier’s hypnotic storytelling.
