Skinshape, the project of British multi-instrumentalist William Dorey, takes its name from a bay near his childhood home on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. Chapman’s Pool draws on the sounds that have long fed into Dorey’s music, from Ennio Morricone and ‘60s and ‘70s Ethiopian jazz to trip-hop, South African bubblegum, funk, soul and psychedelia. Recorded at his North London studio, it includes the singles ‘The Blade of a Knife’, ‘Take It As It Is’ and ‘Lover’, with echoes of Khruangbin, Tame Impala and Michael Kiwanuka.
