Tiwayo returns with Outsider, a powerful new album produced by Grammy winner Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas). Known as “The Young Old” for his timeless, weathered voice, the Paris-born singer steps back into the light with a deeply personal collection that blends blues, soul, and gospel traditions. A seasoned traveller and busker, Tiwayo has honed his craft across the globe, earning praise from Norah Jones, Marcus Miller, Tony Visconti, and Don Was, and sharing stages with Sting, Seal, and Marcus Miller. After his acclaimed debut The Gypsy Soul of Tiwayo on Blue Note, he nearly disappeared — until Quesada heard his demos and invited him to Austin to record at Electric Deluxe Studio. Together they’ve created a raw, stripped-back take on soul, featuring contributions from members of Black Pumas and special guests including Doyle Bramhall II and Kendra Morris. Across tracks like ‘Daddy Was Born with the Blues’, ‘Unchained Lovers’, and ‘I’ve Got to Travel Alone’, Tiwayo explores love, grief, and the search for belonging with honesty and grit.
