Released in 1974, Promised Heights was the third of a dazzling three-album run from British funk legends Cymande, following 1972’s eponymous debut and 1973’s Second Time Round. Reggae basslines, Afrobeat percussion, American funk licks and British psychedelic rock all informed this intoxicating set, which includes one of their most famous tracks ‘Brothers On The Slide’.
