Written and produced entirely by Shabaka Hutchings, the record returns to his distinctive saxophone voice, framed by carefully shaped electronics alongside traditional woodwind and percussion drawn from musical cultures around the world. The album reflects the breadth of Hutchings’ work, balancing acoustic performance with modern production. It builds on a catalogue spanning The Comet Is Coming, Sons of Kemet and Shabaka and the Ancestors, alongside solo releases Perceive its Beauty, Acknowledge its Grace and Afrikan Culture. Hutchings has also collaborated widely with artists including Andre 3000, Floating Points, Mulatu Astatke, The Sun Ra Arkestra, Lianne La Havas and Saul Williams. Of The Earth stands as a focused, personal statement grounded in sound as craft.
