Joe Hisaishi reworks his Golden Globe-winning score for Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron as a symphonic suite for piano and orchestra. Rather than simply arranging the original soundtrack, Hisaishi recomposes its themes as a standalone concert work, performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and featuring the composer himself on piano. Familiar melodies from the Studio Ghibli film are recast on a grand orchestral scale, moving between delicate piano passages and dramatic ensemble pieces.
