Death Valley Girls’ Welcome to Earth grew from singer Bonnie Bloomgarden losing her Altadena home in the Eaton Fire, followed by the death of her dog Tommy. Rather than dwell solely on grief, the album explores the connections between people, animals, landscapes and lives. Their psych-punk and space-rock roots remain, joined by girl-group harmonies, communal chants and a large cast of guest singers. Basic Witch features Seth Bogart, while jazz vocalist Gretchen Parlato also appears. The album is the final Death Valley Girls recording to feature late keyboardist Gregg Foreman. Available on CD and coke bottle clear vinyl LP.
