Witch Fever return with Fevereaten, their second album and most ambitious statement yet. Produced by Chris W. Ryan (NewDad, Just Mustard, Enola Gay), it sees the Manchester four-piece delve deeper into the gothic intensity that marked their debut Congregation, while pushing their sound into stranger, heavier terrain. Drawing from doom, hardcore, slowcore and ambient textures, Fevereaten layers cello, noise and spectral melody over their ferocious foundation. “We wanted to sound bigger,” says bassist Alex Thompson. “To push our sound in ways we couldn’t in a room together.” The result is a darker and more exploratory record that refuses to sit neatly within genre boundaries. Fevereaten is a fierce, emotionally charged evolution from one of the UK’s most vital alternative acts.
