Bella Union reissues moon, the debut album from Snowbird, the duo of Stephanie Dosen and Simon Raymonde. Written between London and North Carolina, the record grew from a period of separation, late-night piano sketches, and a creative bond first forged when Raymonde produced Dosen’s earlier work. Though shaped across continents, moon holds a unified atmosphere: gentle rhythms, glowing melodies, and songs that feel suspended between dusk and dawn. A rescued baby grand piano became the catalyst. With Dosen temporarily back in the US, Raymonde began sending her nightly piano pieces. By morning, he’d receive them transformed - layered with her striking harmonies and intuitive storytelling. Within two weeks, the foundations of moon were in place. The album also features contributions from Philip Selway and Ed O’Brien of Radiohead, Midlake’s Eric Pulido and McKenzie Smith, plus Paul Gregory and Jonathan Wilson. Yet at its core, moon is defined by Dosen’s voice and the pair’s shared sense of quiet wonder. Its songs draw on nocturnal imagery, forested spaces, and the idea of illumination - how being seen can make something shine. Available on sage coloured vinyl LP.
