Lorelle Meets The Obsolete return with their seventh album, Corporal — their most direct and dynamic work to date. The Mexican duo charge their psychedelic post-punk sound with throbbing electronics, drawing from the energy of their recent DJ sets and remix collaborations to create something rhythmically potent and politically charged. Mixed by Antoine Goulet (SUUNS) and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring), the album echoes the intensity of Primal Scream’s XTRMNTR, channelling unrest and resistance through distorted, danceable forms. Influences range from Moor Mother and MF DOOM to The Bug, Patrick Cowley and Run the Jewels, nodding to punk, hip-hop and club culture alike. “The body is what carries the weight of stress, exhaustion, sadness... it’s the first thing the system breaks,” says Lorena Quintanilla. Corporal responds by reconnecting with physical joy — seeking escape, catharsis and resistance through movement. Lyrics explore themes of disappearance, control, protest and presence — a visceral reminder of music’s power to confront and transcend.
