JJerome87, the solo project of alt-J frontman Joe Newman, presents The Canyon, recorded in Los Angeles with producer Carlos De La Garza. Backed by session musicians and a trio of female vocalists, the record draws on Californian warmth alongside touches of Motown, blues and gospel. While retaining the melodic sensibility associated with alt-J, these songs lean into fuller arrangements and a more expansive, soulful sound.
