Written in New York and recorded at Sonic Ranch in the Texas desert, Jana Horn’s self-titled third album captures a sense of distance and belonging all at once. Working with her trio - Jade Guterman on bass and Adam Jones on drums - Horn crafts ten understated songs that seem to hover outside geography or time. Echoes of Yo La Tengo and Phil Elverum surface on Love and All in bet, while Designer and Don’t Think are driven by wiry, minimalist rhythms. As The New Yorker observed, her music “aligns with a fraternity of the lonely that cuts across genres”, with shades of Young Marble Giants, Syd Barrett, and Broadcast shimmering through these quiet, uncanny worlds.
