After years as a sought-after sideman for artists including George Benson, Lou Donaldson, Grant Green, Ahmad Jamal and Pharoah Sanders, Muhammad assembled an exceptional cast featuring Bob James, Grover Washington Jr., Randy Brecker, Joe Beck and Ralph MacDonald. Produced by Creed Taylor and engineered by Rudy Van Gelder, the album includes the standout groove Loran's Dance and helped shape a sound that would later become a rich source for hip-hop sampling.
