HighSchool are Melbourne’s Rory Trobbiani and Luke Scott, who first made their mark with debut EP Forever at Last, a lo-fi, new wave and post-punk fusion that set them apart. A move to London soon followed, where they teamed up with Dan Carey for the Speedy Wunderground 7” Only a Dream and dropped the Italo-disco flavoured single Colt while sharing stages with Sam Fender, Provoker and Chvrches. Follow-up EP Accelerator revealed a darker edge, drawing comparisons to Bar Italia and julie, before a sold-out UK tour with Wunderhorse preceded their return to Australia. Now comes their long-awaited debut album. Simply titled HighSchool, it features the singles Dipped, Colt and 149, with production from Ben Hillier (Blur, Depeche Mode) and Finn Bellingham (RIP Magic, Sam Akpro, Sunken). Across twelve tracks, the band playfully weave their name into the record’s central theme, channelling both the restless drive and the rose-tinted mythology of youth.
