Hater end their three-year break with Mosquito, a focused, emotionally charged set that builds on the Malmö group’s melodic indie pop and dream-pop foundations. Across eleven songs, the four-piece uncover stories shaped by myth, longing, and the uneasy space between desire and doubt. The band lean into the raw immediacy that has long defined their sound while adopting a cleaner, more direct writing style. Their shoegaze-rooted textures are refined into something brighter and more purposeful. Tracks pivot between gothic strangeness, wry humour, and bruised romantic confession: Angel Cupid slow-burns as a pointed refusal of clichéd love songs, while This Guy? steps into murkier territory with its enigmatic character study. Stinger brings insistent percussion and Caroline Landahl’s intimate lyrics into a darker, supernatural frame. Recorded in isolation at AGM Studios in Vollsjö with long-time collaborator Joakim Lindberg, and completed at Studio Sickan, Mosquito captures Hater – Caroline Landahl, Måns Leonartsson, Rasmus Andersson, and Adam Agace – in renewed form. The result is a record that moves between punchy introspection and soft-edged melancholy, tracing the afterglow of broken hearts and the fragile hope that follows. Available on CD and clear vinyl LP.
