Bruise Control are a Manchester punk four-piece with a loud, unruly presence that has made them a staple of the UK DIY scene. Their music draws on the aggression of early hardcore while weaving in jagged, melodic guitar lines inspired by indie’s scrappier corners, creating songs that hit hard but still stick in the head. Their latest EP was co-produced by guitarist Niall Griffin and reflects the raw, wired energy of their live shows, complete with shout-along choruses, abrasive vocals, and a restless, hook-driven pace. The band’s reputation has been built on stage: chaotic, communal gigs that feel like a party, powered by humour as much as noise. They have appeared at festivals including 2000Trees, The Great Escape, Bearded Theory and Left Of The Dial, and have shared bills with Amyl & The Sniffers, Spiritual Cramp, Civic and Press Club. For listeners who want punk that’s loud, fast, messy and occasionally thoughtful, Bruise Control offer a fresh take that favours catharsis over polish. Available on CD.
