Julia Holter presents Materia, a companion release to Something in the Room She Moves that revisits and reimagines ideas from its orbit. At its centre is Materia, a song that continued to evolve long after its original recording. Here it appears in two new forms: the dreamlike Materia 2, featuring drum machines, fretless bass, clarinet and vocals from Jessika Kenney, and Materia 3, a slowed-down reinterpretation that highlights the song’s intricate harmonies and emotional depth.
