Ital Tek takes a more instinctive route on Mind Abandon, stepping away from the dense, cinematic feel of recent work. Built largely from voice and guitar, the album uses processed vocals, live percussion and spontaneous performances to create something more immediate and tactile. Guitar anchors much of the record, from the reverb-soaked The Ice Is Thin to the slow-building A Hidden Path, which draws heavily on treated vocals and strings. Killswitch pushes forward with percussive guitar strikes, while Undertow loops around pulsing keys and repeating motifs. Blending industrial tones, shoegaze haze and post-rock scope, the album carries subtle traces of dubstep beneath its surface. It closes in darker territory, ending on a tense, inward-facing note shaped by physical performance as much as electronics.
